Pay tribute to one of New Zealand's endangered fish species with this special silver proof coin featuring the Giant Kokopu.
Highlights:
- Silver Proof Coin with gold plating
- Features New Zealand's rarest native fish, the Giant Kokopu in selected gold plating
Design:
One of New Zealand’s rarest native fish, the shy Giant Kokopu is the main focus on this annual coin featured in gold plating on a silver proof coin.
Victim of the predatory brown trout and the widespread clearance of its swampy natural habitat, the Giant Kokopu are now only found in the few remaining rivers and lakes free of brown trout.
Also known as the Maori trout, the Giant Kokopu lives up to its name, growing up to 55 centimetres and weighing as much as 2.5 kilograms.
